Ian Kidd Design was responsible for the naming and identity development for the newly merged rural State Bank of South Australia and Savings Bank of South Australia. The logo is composed of a stylised map, ‘depicting the traditions of coinage and the future of electronics’. The completed program involved a signage system for over two hundred branches, and the design of over four hundred variations of stationery, forms, pass books and other collateral. In 1991, the bank’s financial implosion was one of the biggest economic disasters in the South Australian history, continuing to impact on the state’s finances and politics into the 21st century.
